about mansted - The brand was created in 2002 and the two annual knit wear collections : spring/summer & autumn/winter are currently sold in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, USA and Australia.
idea - Their vision is to create everyones favourite knitwear, that goes well beyond season and trends, and it brings such joy knowing their creations will be worn until totally worn out!
it takes knowledge - It takes a bit of knowledge to fully appreciate a mansted knit. Notice the little fully fashion marks at the armhole showing that it is proper knit, created & assembled piece by piece and not cut from a roll of fabric. This gives an excellent opportunity to make unique details and pieces, only possible in knitwear, and still at affordable prices.
qualities - Yarns are as pure as they can get them, or a mix of pure qualities, in cotton, linen/hemp, wool & yak. They strive to have qualities that feel soft and delightful to the skin.
shapes - Mansted love to experiment with new shapes like batwing, ponchos and oversize tops. They try on their knitwear many times, to assure that shapes are flattering & feminine.
finish & edges - The knitwear pieces are linked together, actually knit together, stitching into each stitch. which produces a very flat finish, not bulky, with hardly any seam allowance. Unique to knitwear are the many special edges you can create.
buttons - Mansted use natural buttons, mostly real shell, with a transparent matt rubber finish.
care
- yak & wool : to protect the environment – airing garments outside can be used instead of every second wash, especially if damp outside. Mansted recommend handwash in 30°C tepid water with liquid wool soap/ detergent. Place garment flat while drying. Use steam iron.
- cotton & linen/hemp : machine wash on the wool programme, at 30°C with mild liquid soap. turn inside out. place garment flat while drying – away from the sun. use steam iron.
